Spriggle Endowment
he Spriggle Endowment for Benevolent Care

With benevolent needs continually outpacing benevolent funds–only a visionary could imagine how we might make it possible to always meet these needs. Albright is blessed that Marie Spriggle was such a person.
Marie discovered the RiverWoods community through her church. During her visits to the campus she saw benevolent ministry in action. Marie immediately understood that providing benevolent care required charitable support from those blessed with good health and financial resources. In the early ‘90’s, she began making annual gifts and created an estate plan which included Albright as a beneficiary. She also created a Charitable Gift Annuity with Albright, which helped her to meet her personal and financial philanthropy goals.
Upon her death in 1997, her careful estate planning created The Lawrence S. and E. Marie Spriggle Fund established with an initial gift of $300,000 honoring Marie and her late husband, Lawrence. Through her will, Marie communicated her desire to provide benevolent care to residents in need. Albright made the decision to refrain from spending any of the principal from the Spriggle Fund, allowing it to grow with the intention that when it reached $1 million it would be permanently endowed. This milestone was reached at the end of 2012!
In early 2013, Albright partnered with the United Methodist Stewardship Foundation to create The Spriggle Fund for the Endowment of Benevolent Care. A portion of the interest from this fund will be used to support the annual benevolent needs of residents at RiverWoods and Normandie Ridge, with the remainder of the interest invested back into the fund to aid in its continued growth.
With the cost of benevolent care increasing an average of 10% a year, we need gifts of all sizes to help grow the Spriggle Endowment. Please join Marie and the many others whose generosity makes it possible for us to expand this important ministry of providing housing, food, medicine other necessary services to seniors in need!
